Algoma - Blind River
This is a little off topic, but here's a great song with footage of the J.J. McFadden Lumber Company in action in the Blind River area - up northeast of Michigan. I remember these boys from back in the 50s, when this footage was taken. McFadden was the largest white pine lumber operation this side of the Rockies (I think we owned a sizeable chunk of it). This is how we did business in my day - none of this nambipambi stuff with meetings, just getting down to business (besides, that selective horsedrawn cutting is "sustainable", as they would say today). Someone told me that both Tim K and Jon C spent some time in Blind River... A good, two-fisted Canadian town.
